Managing factory production can be a difficult task. A leading commercial vehicle body manufacturer approached us to develop a bespoke software solution to help streamline the production of vehicles in their factory.
CPD Bodies, who specialise in hand built premium quality truck and van bodies have undergone a significant expansion within the business. Due to the recent growth, their existing production planning system was failing to meet the high demand and output needed to complete jobs efficiently.
The management team required a digital solution that would help employees manage the production of vehicle bodies whilst also providing clients the ability to track their jobs online.
Given the complexity of the internal manufacturing process, it was crucial to develop the project through agile methodology, ensuring client feedback would be consistent throughout the development phase to provide a solution fit for purpose.
We assigned a UX designer and backend developer to build the CPD Production Planning Tool from the ground up. Our biggest challenge was to make the platform as simple and as easy to operate for all employees on the workshop floor.
The focus was on very high usability and very clear actions, allowing managers to visualise jobs through their entire lifecycle, adding estimated completion dates and updating the status of a vehicle to track it’s progress.
Due to using the agile development approach meant that CPD Bodies had maximum flexibility to feedback on features and processes within the system, ensuring it met the demands of their workshop.
The software solution simplified the overall planning process and made it way more efficient with the volumes we work through.
