High Tide is an independent charity doing incredible things for young people across the Tees Valley.
Their mission?
To raise aspirations, unlock potential, and give young people real life experiences that show them just how much they’re capable of - no matter their background or circumstances. And after spending some time with this group, we’re pretty sure that the future is in good hands.
The students spent time with both our team, and the amazing ladies over at A&N, getting a behind the scenes look at what it's like to work in digital, and health and safety consultancy. It’s not the most obvious career combo, we know, but that’s what made it all the more exciting for the students. The goal was to give them a small taste of the real world and show them just how many different opportunities are out there.
From learning about the design and development of websites, digital marketing, and business development, to learning about risk assessments and compliance, it was a full-on day, packed with insight, questions, and even a couple of laughs.
We loved seeing how curious and engaged the students were, with some already having a pretty good idea of what they want to do when they leave school. We thought their enthusiasm was seriously impressive for such a young group of people.
Not all the students were as sure of their path through life, however. But that’s okay! They got to hear from younger members of our team like Freya and Alex, learning that sometimes life doesn't go to plan, but if you’re driven and work hard, opportunities can present themselves in unlikely places!
Massive thanks to the team at High Tide for making this possible, and to the students themselves for bringing such great energy into our office. We hope they walked away with fresh inspiration, new ideas, and the confidence to explore the many paths available to them.
And who knows, maybe one day we will be welcoming some of them back as the latest additions to the Calm Digital and A&N Safety teams.
